Ravenna Creek Project
Seattle, WA
2002-2007
For fifty years the clean water of Ravenna creek has been diverted to a water treatment plant after it flows through Ravenna Park in Seattle. A pipeline is now being constructed that will carry the water of Ravenna Creek off line from the treatment plant and roughly where it used to flow- only now underground.
This project allows the public to see that a creek is flowing under the streets and sidewalks of their neighborhood.
A mile long corridor of art traces the historical and present day streambed of Ravenna Creek in Seattle. The artwork in this corridor relates both to the history of the watershed and the current developed area, creating a bridge between the past and the present. This project incorporates sculpture, fountains, streetscaping, signage and conceptual art in a wide variety of sites.
