Coyote Point Living Filter

 

This project used plants and fungi to filter storm drain water from the roof of Coyote Point Museum. Instead of dumping the water during rainstorms in the overtaxed storm drain as usual, this project intervened in that system slowing, filtering and using the water for a habitat for fish. The tubes fed the water through plants which filtered the water and broke down pollutants picked up from the roof.

The cleaned water was then used as a habitat for fish in the courtyard below.
